Dog of the Day - 30th April 2013

I've been away for a while, away from dogs (including my own), which is why there haven't been any dogs of the day for a while! But I'm back and the weather is good enough for me to take the camera out, so the Dog of the Day is back on!

Today's Dog of the Day is Hendrix, a 10-month-old pugador. Never heard of the breed/mix? Me neither until I met this little fella yesterday. A pugador is a cross between a pug and a labrador. How dogs of two breeds with such a size disparity managed to mate is not something I want to think about, but the result is quite cute. He is rather manic, jumping around very energetically - in order to be photographed his dog-walker had to hold his collar; otherwise there would have just been a orangey-brownish blur! More tomorrow...

Dog of the Day - 13th April 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is another of JP's Icelandic cocker spaniel clan! This time it's the lovely mother of Snoopy and Tiffany (already featured) - Chelsea.

On our walk along the beach and through the sculpture park Chelsea carried a tatty pink rubber ball, which she insisted on sitting down with at her feet and barking at us, hoping that we'd throw the ball and play with her. When JP did throw the ball all of the cockers chased it and it was usually Tiffany that got it, resulting in a stand-off between them. Once Chelsea had regained the ball she was back to her barking to get our attention! When she wasn't playing with the ball she was busy digging holes in the sand on the beach (possibly in which to bury the ball for next time!).

Dog of the Day - 8th April 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is Snoopy, one of my friend JP's three blue roan cocker spaniels, who reside in Reykjavik. On our walk a few weeks ago Snoopy was quite good at stopping to pose for me. He's quite unusual in that he has some white eyelashes, that make him look very distinguished. He also has unfeasibly long ears and lovely freckly cheeks!

Dog of the Day - 3rd April 2013

Today's Dog of the Day is actually another dog I met yesterday (the light was awful again today!). This is Rocky, a year-old border terrier. I first met him a couple of months ago and was having a little chat with his owner as Henry and Rocky pottered about, and the next thing I knew the little chap had cocked his leg and taken a little tinkle down my jeans. I thought it was hilarious but his owner was absolutely mortified. I met them again a few weeks ago and he still said how embarrassed he was about it. The little man hasn't done it since, which is a relief for his owner, but I still find the whole thing quite amusing.

Anyway, no more pee on my leg - he had a good little play with Henry and his new favourite toy - a green rubber ball on a rope from Sainsbury's!

Dog of the Day - 2nd April 2013

I'm back from Iceland! I've been back a few days, but have spent most of my time either doing social Eastery things, processing Iceland photos, or catching up on Countdown on 4OD ;)

The weather seems to be perking up a little - today it was sunny most of the day, if a little nippy when the wind blew - so I took the camera out. The forecast looks good, so I'll try to get some more regular shots of the local doggies.

Today's Dog of the Day is Noah. He's a golden cocker spaniel, about a year old (a little older than Henry). They met last summer when they were both small puppies and played together from day one. They don't see each other all that often, and when they do the playing is a little less prolonged than it used to be. Noah's got quite fluffy fur and had an all-over chop a couple of months ago, except for his head and tail (the "lion cut" - sported by quite a few dogs in the neighbourhood who'd visited the same groomer and have a bit of spaniel or poodle in them!). Noah's hair has grown back quite a lot, but he still bears a great resemblance to a lion, I think.

Tomorrow Henry has a play-date with his old cavapoo friend Abby, so I think I know who the Dog of the Day might be (if she sits still for more than a split-second!).
